How TikTok got me started

I still don’t believe it, but TikTok actually got me started in thinking that I could actually publish a book. I had no idea that people were self-publishing their own books, rather than face rejection after rejection with publishers. I had already tried that route with a different story about a little girl who has a communication device to speak, and realized that this would be a hard road.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like TikTok.

But I stumbled upon several accounts that caught my attention.

First I learned on TikTok about Amazon KDP. People were publishing books left and right on Amazon KDP, and sharing about them in their TikTok videos. I then branched off to learn about Ingram Spark, another self-publishing house.

This looked doable! I started learning about how to format a book for publishing, what to do in terms of next steps after you finish your story, and all the little nuances of self-publishing. Stay tuned to my next blog post about what I recommend as the first steps to self-publishing your own book!
